KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Just minutes after missing what would have been a tournament-winning putt on the 18th green at Holston Hills Country Club, Pontus Nyholm made a lengthy putt for eagle on the first playoff hole, defeating Johnny Keefer for his first career win on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Nyholm entered the day at 14-under, trailing leader S.H. Kim by five strokes. A four-over day from Kim opened the door for the Campbell University product, who led by two strokes ahead of the 18th hole.
A birdie by Keefer and Nyholm’s bogey sent the tournament to a playoff for the second straight year.
Knoxville natives put on solid performances in front of their home crowd. VFL Bryce Lewis earned a top 20 finish at 12-under, while Halls alum Ryan Hall had his best professional finish of his career, tied for sixth at 15-under par.
