The Kansas City Royals welcome one of the hottest-hitting teams in baseball tonight as the Tampa Bay Rays roll into town. Tampa Bay comes into this series winning seven of their last ten, whereas the Royals have won four of their last ten. The Royals will hand the ball to Kris Bubic, hoping he can put his team in a position to pick up a much-needed win. Bubic has been strong this season, posting a 6-4 record with a 2.12 ERA. While he’s been dominant most of the season, he hasn’t been as sharp going 2-2 over his last five starts with a still-impressive 2.93 ERA.
For the Rays, Taj Bradley will get the start, and he’s currently 4-5 with a 4.95 ERA. Bradley has not won a game since May 21st, and he’s 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA over his last 5 contests. While Kansas City has a significant advantage on the mound, the Rays are sitting first in runs scored over the last 15 days, averaging 6.5 runs per game. As for the Royals, they sit last with 3 runs per game in that same span. This should be a very good game to watch, but it’s hard to tell what kind of performance we’ll get from Bradley as he takes the mound. Taking everything into consideration, I like the way the Rays have been playing, and even though Bradley has been struggling, I think there’s value in picking Tampa Bay at plus money. Look for the Rays to come out swinging in this matchup, making Tampa Bay my best bet of the day.
