Heat and humidity set to impact the region

Heat and humidity is arriving a day early, right before the first official day of summer with the solstice on Friday. The combination of the two has prompted Storm Team 10 Weather Alert as the head index values, or feels-like temperatures, could peak somewhere between 95-100 degrees for parts of the region.

The actual ambient air temperatures will likely be a few degrees on either side of 90 for most communities away from the coast. Elevated dew points in the low 70s will provide that tropical-like feel to the air. If you are looking to escape the heat, the place to be is the south coast! Beaches are forecast to be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees because of a strong southwest wind off the ocean water.

A cold front will swing into the northeast during the evening, but by the time it arrives in our backyard, the sun is setting and the atmosphere is starting to stabilize. Most of the activity should fizzle out during this period, but a start storm or downpour cannot be ruled out, especially north and west of I-95.

The key aspect of this front is that it will flush out all the humidity! Dew points crash behind it, allowing for a much more comfortable feel on Friday.

With seasonal temperatures and bright blue skies to match the lower humidity, Friyay should be a phenomenal day! If you dislike humidity, try to enjoy the dry air, because humidity surges back into the region this upcoming weekend!
