OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KCBD) – Texas Tech softball continues its postseason success, grabbing a win over Ole Miss, 1-0, in its Women’s College World Series debut.
After a a weather delay, the Red Raiders were led in the circle by D1Softball’s Pitcher of the Year NiJaree Canady. She struck out the first inning side and the final three in the seventh to clinch the win.
She held on to a no-hitter all the way until the sixth inning when Ole Miss connected on two. She finished the day with 10 strikeouts, two hits allowed and no runs allowed.
The lone run of the night came off the bat of Alana Johnson when she doubled down the left field line, scoring Lauren Allred off of an error.
Texas Tech had four hits on the day with no errors.
The Red Raiders will now take on the UCLA Bruins, who walked-off Oregon with a two-run home run to move on.
