The rise of Jacob Fatu in WWE has impressed a Hall of Famer.
Jacob Fatu has been on the WWE main roster for less than a year, yet he has already main evented major PLE shows and won the United States Title at WrestleMania 41.
As a cousin of major WWE superstars like Roman Reigns, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso), and Solo Sikoa, it seemed like destiny for Fatu to be in WWE after making a name for himself in MLW.
It hasn’t been easy for Fatu since he was in jail and faced other issues, but since joining WWE, he has proven to be a fan favorite. Even though Fatu is a heel who runs around with Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo, many fans chant “Fatu” for the US Champion.
After Jacob Fatu won at WrestleMania, his uncle Rikishi spoke about how incredible it was to see Jacob where he is now. Rikishi talked about how Jacob was a kid from the streets who struggled to make money for his family, but now he’s on the right path and thriving.
On a new episode of his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi spoke about the connection that his nephew Jacob has with wrestling fans.
“Fans, they follow people’s careers. When you’re out there, they already have an attachment to Jacob. I was like, you know how proud they are of this kid.
And then you hear his stories about so you can gravitate to somebody when you’re telling the story… had a bad, bad hand, you know, hand dealt to him. You know, did some time, came back out, boom, jumped into wrestling, had a family… kept running, and here it was, only, you know, in due time.”
Jacob Fatu Could Become A WWE Hall Of Famer
It’s early in Jacob Fatu’s WWE career, but his uncle Rikishi thinks that Jaocb has what it takes to be a WWE Hall of Famer like Rikishi.
“The story alone, I feel a lot of people can relate to that… Now, we all like a positive story… And the fans, you know, they just seize this this, they feel like they’re on a ride with the with the icon to be made absolutely right? Because they all see him coming for the first season in the making, right?”
“He’s the heel and he’s got merchandise. Yeah, right, the hottest selling merchandise. If WWE would not make your merchandise, if they don’t feel that you’re generating revenue and you’re becoming a fan favorite, right?”
“You stick Jacob with the right guys, the right names and the right angle? Yeah, you’re looking at a future Hall of Famer.”
Jacob Fatu will be in action on the May 30th edition of SmackDown.
