OKLAHOMA CITY — The best season in Texas Tech softball history continues after the Red Raiders won their first game of the Women’s College World Series on Thursday to advance to the winner’s bracket.
Texas Tech rode a 10-strikeout pitching performance from NiJaree Canady to beat Ole Miss 1-0 in the first game of the tournament. The No. 12-seeded Red Raiders move on to Saturday’s game looking to secure a spot in the semifinals on Monday.

Texas Tech softball opponent, schedule update for 2025 Women’s College World Series
Jessica Clements hit a two-run walk-off home run in the final game Thursday to power UCLA to a 4-2 win over Oregon.
The Bruins, the No. 9 seed in the 2025 NCAA softball tournament field, will be Texas Tech’s opponent on Saturday. The game will be 6 p.m. and air on ABC.
